沿着石阶攀登陡峭的绝壁，
题写诗句来纪念这幽僻的境地。
呵出的寒气让象牙笔管湿滑，
俯瞰着千尺深的悬崖令人惊怕。
一群猿猴都惊讶地发出笑声，
看着我攀扯藤萝仔细找寻。
忽然从石缝中搜寻得到，
前人留下的雄浑字迹足以激发吟哦。
我吟诵诗句，猿猴在一旁侧耳倾听，
点头的样子仿佛懂得其中音韵。
吟罢诗句我便下山离去，
猿猴也回归它们自己的山林。

Climbing the sheer cliff by the stony stair,
I inscribe a poem to mark this secluded lair.
My frozen breath makes the ivory brush slip,
As I gaze down the thousand-foot abyss's grip.
A troop of gibbons, startled, laugh and stare,
Watching me seek a hold on vines with care.
Suddenly, from a crevice, I retrieve
A grand inscription, spurring me to conceive.
I chant the lines; the gibbons cock an ear,
Nodding their heads as if a friend were near.
The poem done, I descend the mountain steep;
The gibbons, too, to their own forests leap.
