I pause the hand that pressed for taxes due,
And come to chant this verse of joyful rain.
Not just a boon for people and all things,
But also sparing scorn from clerk and swain.
Three days of downpour answered as we prayed,
A thousand barns' joy lies herein contained.
Speak of how well the farming matters go,
To year's end, laughter and contentment gained.
