小雅废兮，东山不作。

xiǎo yǎ fèi xī， dōng shān bù zuò。

ㄒㄧㄠˇ ㄧㄚˇ ㄈㄟˋ ㄒㄧ，ㄉㄨㄥㄕㄢㄅㄨˋ ㄗㄨㄛˋ。

哀我人斯，皇心不乐。

āi wǒ rén sī， huáng xīn bù lè。

ㄞㄨㄛˇ ㄖㄣˊ ㄙ，ㄏㄨㄤˊ ㄒㄧㄣㄅㄨˋ ㄌㄜˋ。

烝哉斯人，胡然而天兮，王师于铄。

zhēng zāi sī rén， hú rán ér tiān xī， wáng shī yú shuò。

《小雅》被废弃了，《东山》诗也不再创作。

哀怜我们的人民，皇帝心中不快乐。

这些人是多幺众多而杰出啊！他们怎幺如此像上天一样？君王的军队真是光辉显赫。

The Minor Odes are abandoned, the "Eastern Hills" is no more composed.

Alas for our people! The emperor's heart finds no repose.

How great are these men! How did they become like heaven? The royal army is splendid and glorious.
