读书岂能总是勤勉？
鞭策自己常常是自我督促。
唉，我的头发已稀疏斑白，
如此费力又将有何用处？
不如合上书本闲坐，
看前山一片翠色朦胧。

Today I bathed and washed my hair,
And left my books and studies there.
Is reading always diligence? I ask,
The whip of duty is a constant task.
My hair grows thin and turns to gray,
What use to strive in such a way?
