皇帝下诏，放我归隐山林；
世俗之人，投来冷眼相看。
你为我赠上新作的诗篇；
如此高义，像你一般实属艰难。
你又说起同年结拜的兄弟情谊；
尤其懂得择友的根本与端方。
愿效仿梅福，隐于市朝；
却仍像贡公那样，宁可弹冠相庆也不愿同流合污。

By royal decree, I retire to the woods and streams;
The worldly eye now casts on me a cold, disdainful gleam.
You gift me with new verses, fresh and fine;
Such noble friendship is as rare as yours, I deem.
You speak again of our sworn brotherhood in the same year's line;
You know, above all, how to choose a friend of worth, a sign.
In the market, one hides like the plum-seller of old;
Yet, like Gong Gong, you'd rather let your cap be shot, so bold.
