戴着铁锁银铛的囚犯众多，
在金科玉律下频频伏罪认过。
再也听不到奏报监狱空荡的消息，
我深感愧对那位片言折狱的贤吏。
清明的颍川太守黄霸曾在此为官，
仁德的召伯曾在甘棠树下听讼判案。
我怀念先贤却无法继承他们的德政，
百姓犯罪众多，难道真是由他们本性决定？

In shackles of iron and silver, a multitude stands,
Frequent are the confessions under the golden law's demands.
No more reports of empty prisons reach the ear,
Deeply ashamed is the man of few words, sincere.
Like Huang Ba of Yingchuan, whose governance was clear,
Or Duke Shao of Shao, by the sweet pear tree held dear.
To emulate such worthies, my efforts fall short,
Can the multitude of crimes be blamed on the people's resort?
