The pillar of the west is broken, the giant turtle's foot snapped,
The cords of the southeast land are tilted and collapsed.
All streams compete to rush downward in a frantic race,
Roaring and surging, they return to the ocean's embrace.
Who can stride across the Silver River, vast and bright,
And pull back this celestial course from its endless flight?
In troubled times, the old man who sailed a raft is gone;
This thought of mine remains obscure, from dusk till dawn.
