草并没有过错;
草并没有过错;
Do not uproot the grass,
The grass has done no wrong;
Compared to the fickle ways of the world, it is not so shallow.
Have you not seen the mansions of nobles in Chang'an?
In their prime, guests swarmed like hemp.
After the nobles fell, no carriages came to their gates,
Only fragrant grass grows thicker year by year.
Have you not seen, by rivers and lakes a thousand miles away,
A desolate sight with no old friends in view,
Only fragrant grass follows the carriage wheels.
One day I returned to my former dwelling,
And first cleared the grass before my gate.
The grass truly has not failed its master;
What then should the master do for the grass?
Do not uproot the grass,
The grass has done no wrong;
Compared to the fickle ways of the world, it is not so shallow.
