南城外茶杯旁的菊花还未散发香气，
西屋檐下的老柳树已觉枝叶稀疏泛黄。
家中没有县令那样的双凫舄（官鞋），
梦中却有仙人所乘的五色羊。
梅花开放的消息容易从岭北传来，
书信却难以托付大雁飞过衡阳。
我深知远方百姓怀念您的公正道义，
若说起您的威名，便如背负芒刺一般令人敬畏。

South of the city, chrysanthemums by the tea cup are not yet fragrant;
West of the eaves, the old willow feels sparse and yellow.
At home, I lack the magistrate's pair of duck-patterned shoes;
In dreams, I have the immortal's five-colored sheep.
Plum blossom news easily travels north of the mountains;
Wild goose letters are hard to send past Hengyang.
I know for sure the distant folk cherish your public virtue;
To speak of your awe-inspiring name is to bear a thorn on one's back.
