但这劣马般的鞭子便已化作了骏马一样的神奇。
鞭杆修长，却让人想到它笔直地穿过台阶；
鞭节紧密，应知是承受了肥沃土壤的滋养。
在寒冷的夜晚，镶金的鞭梢敲击着，伴随月亮西落；
在袅袅的春风中，如玉的丝绦拂过飞舞的花瓣。
随身携带它，莫要嘲笑它没有别的用处——
在万里征途上，它更能指挥千军万马的旌旗。

At first I bought it, pitying its low price,
Yet this old nag transformed into a steed of paradise.
Its long shaft, straight, seems piercing through the steps to grow;
Its dense joints, fed by fertile soil, must richly show.
In night's chill, gold-tipped, it clinks as the moon descends;
In spring breeze, jade-threaded, it sweeps where blossom wends.
Don't laugh that carried, it serves no purpose clear—
It can command ten thousand banners far and near.
