急流勇退是常人难以做到的，
他们却找到了最恰当的离去时机。
皇亲国戚举荐自己的爱弟，
想让他与樊哙等人同列。
天子心中尚且存有疑虑，
并未否决他们的谏言。
倘若他们长久留在官位，
怎能不与时势相违背？
他们说要懂得适可而止，
于是毅然解下印绶离去。
归来安享晚年长寿，
荣辱一概不再牵累。
变卖金银广置田宅，
拒绝了儿辈的劝说。
财富过多只会增加过错，
富裕是众人怨恨的根源。
这些话是多幺贤明啊，
何止是阐明了进退之道。

Two lords held their noble aims on high,
Admired by all, both now and days gone by.
To retreat bravely is a feat most rare,
Yet they found the perfect way to leave their care.
A noble relative recommended his dear brother,
To join the ranks of Huan, one and another.
The emperor, still harboring doubt in his heart,
Did not refuse their protest, playing his part.
Had they lingered long in their official stay,
Could they avoid the times going astray?
They spoke of knowing when to stop and turn,
And promptly left their seals, never to return.
Returning home to enjoy a life serene and long,
Free from all honors and disgraces, right or wrong.
They sold their gold to buy more fields and land,
Rejecting their children's pleas, taking a firm stand.
Excessive wealth only multiplies one's fault,
Riches become the source of envy, a bitter vault.
How wise indeed are these words they did impart,
They clarify not just retreat, but life's whole art.
