红米的价格正飞涨，显得昂贵；
百姓的疾苦还未痊愈。
茅草屋顶没有炊烟升起；
吃饱了饭，就能没有忧愁了吗？

The rice sprouts grow as wheat fields ripen in autumn's tone.
Dark clouds roll over mountains, bringing a pelting rain;
The swollen stream submerges trees along its domain.
The price of red millet soars, a scarcity takes hold;
The common folk's deep suffering is far from consoled.
No smoke rises from thatched huts, the hearths are cold and bare;
Yet, with a belly full of rice, can one be free from care?
