于是导致了陆浑戎的祸乱,

采用夷狄的风俗反而改变了华夏,
丧失礼制去追随粗俗的习惯。
先王仁义的治国方略,
怎能用这种方式来求取福运?
齐桓公九合诸侯的功业,
并不依靠兵车武力达成。
孔子感叹说'要是没有管仲,
我们恐怕都要披发左衽了。
从那以来,豪侠少年们,
往往穿着奇装异服。
炫耀武力何必如此呢?
抵御外族自有前人的典范可循。
我冒昧地告知守关的官吏:
奇异的服饰应当严厉禁止。
Xin You lamented the loose, unbound hair;
Zhao Ling delighted in the barbarian attire.
Thus the Luhun Rong tribes came to be,
And in the end, the shame at Shaqiu befell.
Using barbarian ways to change the Xia—
Losing rites to follow vulgar custom.
The ancient kings' method of benevolence and righteousness—
How could one use this to seek fortune?
Duke Huan of Qi's ninefold feats of alliance,
Were achieved not by the hub of war chariots.
Confucius sighed, 'But for Guan Zhong,
We might have been subjects of the left-lapped garb.'
Since then, the gallant and knightly youths,
Often have worn strange and different dress.
Is displaying martial prowess truly necessary?
To guard against the barbarians, there are former tracks.
I dare to inform the officers of the frontier pass:
Strange attire should be prohibited and strictly enforced.
