君子对于言语,本应追求谨慎寡言,
贤人终日看起来就像愚钝之人。
喜爱山水自古被称为仁者的行为,
伶牙俐齿向来被吝啬的官吏厌恶。
在双峰听法,耳朵空自高耸,
老禅师只求达到一言不发的境界。
Cease talk of Vimalakirti and Manjusri, I pray,
Try asking the great scholar the meaning of the hut's name.
A gentleman, in speech, truly desires to be slow and terse,
A worthy man all day appears as if he were a fool.
Loving mountains, since ancient times, is called a benevolent act,
A sharp tongue, from the start, is loathed by the stingy clerk.
Listening to Dharma on Twin Peaks, ears stand in vain,
The old Zen master only wants not a single word.
