深深地回忆起离别家园的时候。
出行也说是路途遥远，
归来啊为何如此迟缓？
这异乡最为炎热，
多病之中渴望有人扶持。
上天派遣我西来的用意，
分明是让我来品尝荔枝。

Meeting the sixth month at the world's far end,
Deeply I recall the time I left my home.
The journey has been said to be so long,
Why is the return so very slow to come?
This alien land is at its hottest now;
In sickness, I long for a helping hand.
Heaven sent me westward with a purpose clear:
It simply bade me taste the lychees of this land.
