早晨出游,连贤能之士都感到羞愧;
The ancient scholars, in their direst plight,
Were prized for talent and integrity.
High ministers would heed them, clear of sight,
And none could block their path with flattery.
Some rose from midst the weeds, obscure and low,
To hold the courtly power, grand and high.
The common man dared not such heights to know,
Saying, 'I am not of that company.'
At dawn, the worthy felt ashamed to meet;
At dusk, those who encountered them would flee.
Thus later ages, foolish and unwise,
All crave high rank, and nothing else they see.
