寒冷的公鸡勉强知晓天将破晓，它的第一声啼鸣惊破了我的梦境。
我的事情并不需要早起去办，我拉过被子打算再躺一会儿。
等待天明时，我枕着戈矛入睡；若要上朝，便须身着盛装端坐。
我一生没有结下什么怨仇，我的责任也并非辅佐朝政。
何况正当苦寒的月份，北风正猛烈地吹拂摇荡。
姑且再等到午间暖和些，再慢慢起身读完我的经书课业。

The cold rooster insists on knowing the dawn, / Its first crow shatters my dream.
My affairs do not demand an early start, / I pull up the quilt and lie down again.
To wait for daybreak, I sleep with my head on a spear, / To attend court, I'd sit in full ceremonial dress.
My life holds no enmity or feud, / My duty is not to assist the throne.
Especially in this bitter cold month, / When the north wind is raging and tossing.
