五年间六次经过这泗水之地，
仰起头来，叹息人生的劳苦。
山峦还是往昔的颜色，
人们却都怀着今日的复杂心情。
离开朝廷，机巧的心思少了，
望向淮河，被尘世遮蔽的双眼变得清明。
万物的道理我都已明了，
漂泊不定的人生又何足为惊？

Five times, six crossings, here I stand and sigh,
Lifting my head, lamenting life's hard toil.
The mountains wear the color of days gone by,
While people bear the feelings that now turmoil.
With schemes of state left behind, my mind grows light,
My dust-filled eyes toward Huai River grow clear.
The ways of things I understand, day and night,
So why should drifting on the stream cause me fear?
