有谁能领悟圣人的深意,
那并不完全蕴藏在书籍里面。
乐曲终了,琴弦却依然存在;
器物制成,制作的机巧便隐而不显。
斫轮老手的技术真是精妙啊!
他在堂下笑话齐桓公的肤浅。
Piled high with dusty scrolls, you toil away,
Gnawing at them like bookworms day by day.
Who knows the sages' thoughts, profound and deep,
Are not confined to tomes that scholars keep?
The music ends, yet still the string remains;
The vessel formed, the craft's intent explains.
How wondrous is the wheelwright's seasoned hand!
Beneath the hall, he laughs at Duke Huan's stand.
