它爱惜自己尚且稀疏的羽毛。
从这一物便可知晓天理，
他年任凭（它）做个布衣平民。
彼此相忘或可容身免祸，
我与你（的想法）并无违背。

The fledgling bird has little cunning in its heart,
It does not flee from people it encounters.
The wide, sparse net is of no concern,
It treasures its still-scarce feathers.
This one creature knows Heaven's principle,
In later years, it will be content in plain cloth.
To forget each other allows a chance escape,
Between you and me, there is no discord.
