黎明时分他托着应器(钵盂)准备出发,
临近中午便能饱食他人施舍的干粮。
填饱肚子固然是他的愿望,
前往坟地乞食也并非他所羞于去做的事。
心中常感歉然不足,
惶惶不安,于此有所求取。
素来吃饱后便安然静坐,
饥饿时再次出游乞讨。
看你与灵辄终究不同,
翳桑之下的恩惠又何须报答?
Begging for food was deemed a shame in days of old,
Yet the monk's name is built on self-cultivation bold.
At dawn he holds his alms bowl, ready to depart,
By mid-morn, he's sated with the offered bread and tart.
To fill his belly is indeed his simple plea,
To the graveside he goes, no shame for all to see.
Often he feels a lack, a want that does not cease,
Restless and anxious, he seeks a moment's peace.
When fully fed, he sits in tranquil meditation,
When hunger stirs again, he roams in search of donation.
Compared to Ling Zhe, your spirit is not the same,
What use is repaying kindness under the mulberry's name?
