How lamentable are the sorrowful affairs!
The frontier swan geese hold the Yellow River's lore,
The hedge chrysanthemums bloom through the ages' layers.
The bitter rain leaks through every bed in the room,

A fishing boat is but a leaf upon the gloom,
Yet happier than my home, it seems serene.
