竹坞中日渐显得幽暗阴森。
想要了解他们养育百姓的心意，
应先观察他们爱护万物的仁心。
竹林低垂，使得宴饮器具也显得清冷，
竹影密布，映衬得音乐声更加幽深。
不要奇怪这里湖光为何稀少，
只因年来碧绿的竹影已渐渐侵占了水面。

The bamboo grove grows shady, day by day.
To know how people's welfare is their care,
First see the love they show for things that stay.
Low-hanging, cups and stands feel chill and lone,
Thick-shaded, pipes and strings sound deep and clear.
Don't wonder that the lake-light here seems gone,
For years the jade-green shadows have drawn near.
