没有一处坐席不在谈论禅理。
回头看我自己算是怎样的人呢，
每逢他人谈论，唯独我一片茫然。
真羡慕你的诗写得如此之好，
论说佛理众人之中又有谁能比你领先？
只怕我的前生就是，
那东都洛阳的白居易。

Of late, at court and in the wilds, guests all around
No seat is free from talk of Zen, profound and sound.
But what am I, pray tell, in this grand, swirling tide?
Meeting others, alone, in blankness I abide.
I envy how your verses flow, so fine and clear,
And who, when speaking Buddha, could your words outpeer?
I only fear my former self, in truth, might be
That poet of the Eastern Capital, Bai Letian, free.
