The governor has a bibliomaniac's delight,
His memory and reading span a boundless sea.
Moreover, this lone tower stands aloof and bright,
Utterly free from the clamor of the world's spree.
Crossing arms, he leans on the winding desk with ease,
Scratching his head, he lets his black gauze cap fall free.
Who else can understand this taste, this inner peace?
He chants long verses as the window sun dips low, a gentle lease.
