万仞崖头曾借路，百千禅侣尽生疑。

wàn rèn yá tóu céng jiè lù， bǎi qiān chán lǚ jìn shēng yí。

ㄨㄢˋ ㄖㄣˋ ㄧㄚˊ ㄊㄡˊ ㄘㄥˊ ㄐㄧㄝˋ ㄌㄨˋ，ㄅㄞˇ ㄑㄧㄢㄔㄢˊ ㄌㄩˇ ㄐㄧㄣˋ ㄕㄥㄧˊ。

只因满眼多𪩘崄，不识天然却问谁。

zhǐ yīn mǎn yǎn duō yǎn xiǎn， bù shí tiān rán què wèn shuí。

曾经在万丈悬崖的顶端借路而行，

千百位参禅的同伴都心生疑惑。

只因为满眼都是险峻的山峦与峭壁，

认不出天然的本性，却还要去问谁呢？

Once I borrowed a path atop the cliff of ten thousand fathoms,

And hundreds of Zen companions were all filled with doubt.

Only because the eyes are filled with perilous peaks and crags,

They fail to see the natural way, and ask of whom?
