洁白的墙壁虽然是作画的好地方，
但缺乏慧根，痴迷的愚者难以醒悟清醒。
纵使有僧人百般精巧的技艺，
也有文人墨客来题写名号。
徒然留下佳妙（的壁画）却不题写宣扬，
反而堕入五趣，陷于尘俗之境。
只为了告知往来的观览者：
请起身聆听前面题写的词句。

Without discernment, fools are hard to wake.
Even with all the monks' skill, a hundredfold,
There are still scholars who write names for fame's sake.
Leaving beauty empty, no verses to proclaim,
They fall into five destinies, dust's domain.
Only to tell the visitors who come to gaze:
Rise and listen to the words of former days.
