一只老鹤从遥远的天际飞下，
气宇轩昂地站立在树林的顶端。
它那如霜的羽毛面对着山野之人，
飘逸的神采消失在秋日的天边。
像颜始安那样矫健而安然自得，
不受官服冠带的束缚与纠缠。
清高纯真，如同嵇康与阮籍，
一场醉后，便将万事抛却。
在空寂的山谷中读书，
鲜嫩的青草如同皎洁的白驹。
长久地吟诵着《五君咏》，
极目远眺，目送飞鸟远去。

An old crane descends from the distant sky,
Lofty and proud, above the forest high.
Its frosty feathers face the rustic man,
Its free spirit vanishes where autumn skies span.
Noble and steadfast, Yan Shi'an at his ease,
Unbound by official caps and sashes, free as the breeze.
Pure and true, like Ji Kang and Ruan Ji of old,
One drunken bout, and all worldly affairs grow cold.
He reads his books within the empty vale,
Fresh grass gleams white, like a colt, without fail.
Chanting long the "Ode to Five Gentlemen," he stands,
Gazing far, following the flight of birds with his hands.
