司马迁年少时性情豪放不羁，
他初出茅庐便游历了群山丘壑。
晚年遭受李陵之祸的牵连，
心中愤懑郁结，思索着将志向寄托于远方。
他高超的文辞振发了幽微的光芒，
他秉笔直书，揭露和谴责隐晦的罪恶。
他的思想驰骋纵横数千年历史，
融会贯通了诸子百家的著作。
直至今日，那青色的竹简之上，
他文章的华彩依然如金玉般鲜明闪耀。
如此高才却忽然有了微小瑕疵，
难以用寻常的情理来揣度衡量。
就好比那乘海运而飞的大鹏鸟，
哪里还会顾及小小的弓箭罗网？
区区一个班彪（字叔皮），
实在不容易非议他的疏漏与简略。

In youth, unrestrained, Sima Qian roamed far and wide,
Setting forth, he traversed every hill and valley side.
In later years, by Li Ling's misfortune struck with pain,
Indignant and aggrieved, he sought a distant aim.
His lofty words stir up the light in shadows deep,
His honest pen condemns the hidden evils that creep.
Galloping through the ages, thousands of years in flight,
He weaves through all the schools of thought, a brilliant light.
Even now upon the bamboo slips, so green and old,
The splendor of his writing shines like burnished gold.
A minor flaw in one of such exalted art,
Cannot be measured by the common, simple heart.
Just like the roc that rides the gales across the sea,
Would it ever look back at arrows shot with glee?
The petty views of Ban Biao, limited and small,
Are hardly fit to judge this master, overall.
