醋瓮里的醯鸡，眼界只有瓮口那幺大；
河边的鼹鼠，喝一肚子水就胀满了肚腹。
啄木鸟啄着树干，发出空洞的敲击声；
蜗牛的触角，一会儿伸出，一会儿缩回。
你难道没看见那浩瀚无边的春天吗？
走出门去，迎面遇见的每一个人都像是亲切的故交。
没有到达那灵秀之地，
又怎能知道那里有杰出的人物呢？

The vinegar fly sees only the jar's rim,
The mole rat's belly swells with river's brim.
The woodpecker taps with a hollow sound,
The snail's horns stretch and shrink on the ground.
Have you not seen the boundless spring, so vast and free,
Where every face you meet is kin, as far as eye can see?
Until you tread the sacred ground,
How can the noble man be found?
