瘦马与小舟，我的行迹已很勤勉；
走遍三乡之地，独自一人，心神伤悲。
湖边水势涨满，鱼龙富足繁多；
野外田地干旱，燕雀贫瘠困苦。
我岂有特殊才能来增益这道理？
试着留下些余泽，遗留给这些百姓。
东南方每一步，丰年与凶年景象有别；
却笑那上天之心，似乎并不均匀。

A lean horse and a small boat, my traces have been diligent;
Passing three villages, alone, my spirit is wounded.
By the lake, the swollen waters teem with fish and dragons;
In the wild fields, parched and dry, swallows and sparrows are poor.
How could I have any special power to aid this principle?
I try to leave some remaining grace for these people.
East and south, step by step, abundance and disaster differ;
Yet I laugh, as if Heaven's heart were not impartial.
