世间万物各有自己的职分，
只有那无心的浮云独自闲游。
于是使得隐居于此的客人，
每日与山间的云霞格外亲近。
种植桂花，以此比拟芬芳的操守；
佩戴兰草，心中思念着保持高洁之身。
何必一定要到水中去洗涤呢？
我的帽缨上原本就没有沾染尘垢。

All things have their own tasks to do,
Only the carefree clouds drift without a care.
Thus, the recluse dwelling in seclusion,
Day by day grows closer to the mountain clouds.
Planting osmanthus, I compare it to noble virtue;
Wearing orchids, I think of keeping myself pure.
Why must one cleanse oneself in water?
There is no dust upon my hat-strings to begin with.
