回想当年辞别家园时，哪里是为了单于而来。
远适他乡固然是命运安排，匹配丑夫并非媒妁促成。
起初想要与日月同辉长久，如今却感叹如同随风飘散的尘埃。
仆从侍女都一同悲戚感伤，对着山川也只能徒然徘徊。
鸿雁为此感到悲伤，肝肠为此寸断摧折。
哪里听得到琵琶的欢乐之音，只听见琵琶声中的哀怨。
休说羊酪滋味甘美，谁又会喜欢毡帐的门户敞开。
故乡远在万里之外，这一生怎能回得去。
于是知道女子的命薄，不能比作原野上的莱草。

Thinking of the day she left her home, / Did she ever dream to wed the Khan supreme?
To go afar was fate's decree, / To mate with ugliness, no matchmaker's scheme.
She once hoped to match the sun and moon in constancy, / Now sighs, as dust in the wind, a vanished dream.
Her maids and servants share her bitter woe, / Over mountains and rivers, vainly they seem to roam.
Wild geese grieve for her plight, / Her heart and liver feel the crushing blight.
Don't speak of the lute's merry tune she might hear, / Only its notes of sorrow reach the ear.
Cease to praise the sweetness of the cheese of sheep, / Who would delight when the felt tent's door they keep?
Her homeland lies ten thousand miles away, / In this life, how could she ever find the way?
Then know how frail a woman's lot can be, / Not to be compared with grass on the lea.
