All things in time must transform of their own accord,
Their transformation soars aloft, a wondrous flight.
Observe the maggots writhing in the privy's mire,
They'll soon become the flies that circle plates in flight.
Their buzzing mingles with the rooster's morning crow,
Their vanished trace leaves doubt no more than melting ice.
A message to the clerk who tends the Lacquer Garden:
You've known the roc and phoenix, creatures of great price.
