In the hall, a pair of swallows dwell,
Feeding their young with insects they bring.
An old crow also tends its brood as well,
Stealing the swallow chicks from under their wing.
The swallow's nest suddenly falls to the ground,
Six or seven lives in doom are bound.
Naked, without a feather or a wing,
How their parents' hearts must break and sting!
Back and forth, their cries are all in vain,
How can they find a home again?
I pity nests in baskets, frail and slight,
Soon to be shaken by the wind and rain's might.
From now on, if you lay eggs anew,
Better be born as swallows, tried and true.
