雄赳赳的大公鸡，气宇轩昂，
高高的鸡冠，深紫色的羽毛沉甸甸。
它观测星象，仿佛掌管天文的太史局官员，
栖息在树上，又像丞相府中的一员。
知晓时辰，从不误报晦暗的时刻，
觅得食物，还会呼唤同伴一同吃喝。
幸好它不会整夜啼鸣不止，
但也要提防有人闻声起舞，惹出事端。

Proudly stands the great rooster, grand and bold,
With a high crown and feathers darkly cold.
It reads the stars like an astrologer of state,
And perches in the trees near the chancellor's gate.
Knowing the hour, it never misses dawn's call,

Luckily it does not crow throughout the night,
Lest it rouse men to dance, a startling sight.
