众人都沉默时，哑者无法被分辨；
众人都沉睡时，盲者无法被知晓。
只有询问才能让他们应答，
只有唤醒才能让他们观察。
哑与盲的局限便暴露无遗，
而（能触发感悟的）契机只在某一时刻。
如果未能明晓哲人的道理，
那么沉睡与沉默便将决定美丑。

When all are mute, the dumb cannot be told;
When all are blind in sleep, none can behold.
Ask them to answer, wake them up to see—
Then dumbness, blindness, reach their final plea.
