Why is Mount Coiling Dragon so named?
They say it takes the shape of a coiling dragon.
I sought ancient records to verify the lore,
And chanced upon an old man who told the tale.
How wondrous the Creator's craft at the start,
Carved with axe and chisel, leaving no trace.
Vast plains stretch wide on all sides, low and flat,
A winding path leads deep through dense pines and bamboos.
Twisting and turning, its head and horns lie hidden,
Lush and verdant, it brims with vital spirit.
Crouching or squatting, it savors secluded purity,
Neither rising nor hibernating, it guards the fragrant season.
The distant sky and water surface are crystal clear,
Coiling like bright pearls, especially vivid.
Right at its jaw, none could easily seize it,
Let alone dare provoke its reversed scales.
I suspect this dragon has coiled too long,
One day, achieving its aim, it will surely stretch forth.
With thunder and lightning, it will tear the azure heavens,
Lifting head and tail, soaring into the blue clouds.
It shall rise from ancient caves as a divine rainbow,
Bringing timely rain to revive the common folk.
Not only will rich grace shower the world,
But also spare moisture cleanse the border dust.
Thus I know divine beings will transform in the end,
Never tolerating indulgence, content in downfall.
Alas, I fled the rebels and chanced to dwell here,
Watching commanders vie to raise armies with jade tallies.
Fluttering banners stretch along the long road,
Beating drums and bells, they leave the fortified town.
All hoped the chief villain's heart and gall would break,
Without facing the enemy, his soul would be startled.
Who knew the rat-like gang, clinging to shared evil,
Feasted like silkworms, merely passing the days.
Emptying sacks and chests, indulging extreme greed,
They sheathed spears, packed arrows, and sought the way home.
Thus letting the fierce bandits grow more rampant,
Poisoning the living, blocking streams, causing suffering.
No word of changing course or renewing efforts,
Only swallowing rage, hiding grief and bitterness.
O dragon, dragon, swiftly dash and flee!
I shall join you, together we'll soar and rise.
Straight to the deepest pool of the heavenly lake,
Breathing wind and waves, accompanying roc and peng.
