A fierce gale blows the traveler's lapel, fluttering past Tiger Brook's crossing.
Far back I think of the time of three laughs, this meaning surely had its lodging.
Who knows the secret treasury? Why distinguish between laughter and silent speech?

The bell of East Forest sounds serene, Mount Lu's colors are fair and fine.
These all are good knowing friends, ever timely in warning and awakening.
Worldly men naturally join the dust, their two ears deaf, unable to perceive.
A hundred thousand subtle meanings fall within a single hair's breadth.
As I walk, a deep reflection arises, like one heavily asleep suddenly waking.
Wishing to point it out to others, I have a tongue yet cannot speak.
