The master was originally a guest,
A Confucian scholar turned into a monk.
In old age, poor as ever I remain,
Through spring, not once have I been drunk.
Lifting my robe, my body bent and bowed,
Gazing at my shadow, hair dishevelled and wild.
Suddenly I recall the path on Eastern Ridge,
Grasping the vines, I'll try to climb awhile.
