贵固不如贱，狂应未胜痴。

guì gù bù rú jiàn， kuáng yīng wèi shèng chī。

ㄍㄨㄟˋ ㄍㄨˋ ㄅㄨˋ ㄖㄨˊ ㄐㄧㄢˋ，ㄎㄨㄤˊ ㄧㄥㄨㄟˋ ㄕㄥˋ ㄔ。

闭门真已矣，命驾欲何之。

bì mén zhēn yǐ yǐ， mìng jià yù hé zhī。

碧缕生香袖，清漪涨砚池。

白话文翻译

富贵本就不如贫贱。

狂放也未必胜过痴愚。

闭门不出真是到此为止了。

即便命人驾车，又能去往何处？

碧绿的熏香缕缕，使衣袖生香。

清澈的涟漪在砚池中涨起。

这其中自有佳妙之处。

不知不觉间，白昼的日影已经移动。

Nobility is not better than lowliness, after all.

Madness may not surpass folly, I should think.

To shut my door is truly the end of it.

But where would I go if I called for a carriage?

Green threads of incense scent my sleeves.

Clear ripples rise in the inkstone pool.

There is a fine place within this scene.

Unaware, I find the daylight shade has shifted.
