睡觉邻鸡已再啼，蓬窗灯暗雨凄凄。

shuì jiào lín jī yǐ zài tí， péng chuāng dēng àn yǔ qī qī。

ㄕㄨㄟˋ ㄐㄧㄠˋ ㄌㄧㄣˊ ㄐㄧㄧˇ ㄗㄞˋ ㄊㄧˊ，ㄆㄥˊ ㄔㄨㄤㄉㄥㄢˋ ㄩˇ ㄑㄧㄑㄧ。

东家蹇驴不用借，明日门前一尺泥。

东边邻居家的跛脚驴子不用去借了。

因为明天门前会有一尺深的泥泞。

Awake, I hear the neighbor's rooster crow its second round of cries.

My thatched window's dim lamp flickers as the cold, sad rain descends from the skies.

No need to borrow the lame donkey from the family to the east—

For by tomorrow, a foot of mud will bar the gate, at the very least.
