蜗牛壳般的小屋长满了野草，
龟缩的肠胃只饱食稀烂的粥糜。
麦子因连绵阴雨而受损歉收，
蚕事因逢闰年而延迟缓慢。
向往道义却忧虑自己勇气不足，
追求仁德而告诫自己切勿自欺。
这一生虽然即将走到尽头，
但我的志向不应就此衰退。

My snail-shell hut sprouts with weeds anew,
My turtle-gut is filled with watery brew.
The wheat is spoiled by rains that never cease,
The silkworms lag, for leap year brings no peace.
To move toward virtue, yet I fear my lack of might;
To seek benevolence, I guard against self-deceit.
Though this life of mine is bound to fade away,
My will and aspiration shall never decay.
