手持农具，开垦着新湖的葑田，
焚烧草木，在古庙旁的荒地上准备耕种。
官场游历让我悲叹自己刚直不阿却处境艰难，
归家卧病，困于缠绵的疾病之中。
太阳隐没在乌鸦啼叫的戍楼那边，
船只回转于落雁纷飞的天际之下。
衰老残破，自知死期迫近，
却不忍心辜负那些青简编成的书籍（指著述事业）。

I hold the plow, reclaiming lakeside ferny land;
I burn the brush, by ancient temple's wasted shore.
My official travels grieved my upright, stubborn soul;
Returning home to lie, I'm trapped in lingering ailment.
The sun hides where crows caw from the frontier garrison;
My boat turns back beneath the sky of falling wild geese.
Aged and frail, I know death presses near,
Yet I cannot bear to betray the green-bound books.
