Don't laugh at this square pond for being small;
Clear springs, some measures full, give it ample room.
It mirrors flowers like brocade, crimson and bright;
It washes inkstones where black dragons coil and loom.
By day, I fetch its water for my tea tripod's brew;
At times, I come to cast my fishing line and wait.
When autumn wind sweeps past the corner of the rail,
It too can understand and stir a tiny ripple's state.
