齐鲁地区多有广阔的平原，
江浙一带的田地则高低不平。
田地整齐排列如同鱼鳞，
土地册籍究竟由谁掌管？
富人独占其中的利益，
失业者、孤儿寡妇令人怜悯。
当今朝廷采用周礼治国，
天官负责规划郊野土地。
古代方法虽然可以施行，
但必须得到奉行者的贯彻。
杨君是古代循吏良臣的典范，
治理暨阳这小地方的百姓。
他遍访高原低地，咨询民情，
言辞神色总是宽和体谅。
经营谋划从一开始就不扰民，
等到事务就绪便多有闲暇。
实惠的政策使困穷者复苏，
先声夺人，使豪强恶霸退避。
陇上的牛白天悠闲卧着，
城里的狗夜晚也不惊吠。
当年他经过的地方，
喜爱在此憩息于棠树之下。
他的功绩列为上等考绩，
各郡的治理都排在其下。
全城的人都出来送别他，
饥饿的孩童牵着瘦弱的马。
座中有一位狂放的书生，
越出位次独自难以按捺。
我们都是受田耕种的平民，
不熟悉市场，不亲自务农。
乡里胥吏上下其手，

仁德的您努力革除弊端，
立法时应当稍作变通。
圣朝疆域广阔，恩德广大，

In Qi and Lu, the plains stretch wide and far;
In Jiang and Zhe, the fields rise high and low.
They lie in rows, like scales of fish they show;
But who holds the land's register, I'd like to know?
The rich monopolize the profits they bestow;
The jobless, widowed, orphaned, in sorrow grow.
Now the Rites of Zhou are used to guide the state;
The Ministry of Heaven plans the land's estate.
Though ancient laws are feasible to reinstate,
They need upright officials to execute them straight.
Master Yang, a model of ancient, honest might,
Governs the common folk of Jiyang with insight.
He consults all, on highlands and in lowlands deep;
His words and looks are gentle, promises he'll keep.
His management begins without a stir or sweep;
Thus, in due time, he finds leisure vast to reap.
Real benefits revive the poor from their despair;
His fame precedes him, making the mighty aware.
Oxen on ridges laze in daylight without care;
Town dogs at night sleep sound, no alarm to bear.
Where once he passed, he loved to rest with tender thought,
Beneath the pear-tree shade his kindly deeds had wrought.
His achievements top the list, a foremost plan;
Other districts rank below, as best they can.
The whole town pours out to see him off, a loyal span;
Hungry boys lead thin horses, part of the clan.
Among the crowd, a rash student steps ahead,
Breaks rank alone, his bold words to be said:
'We are all tenants, working the land we tread,
Not tending markets, nor by trade are we led.
Local clerks play tricks, their judgments lightly spread,
Taking or leaving as they will, by whim are fed.
Benevolent Lord, strive to cure these ills instead,
Set laws that need not on minor points be bred.
Our sage court's rule is vast, its grace widespread,
Why probe into the tiny cracks that lie ahead?
To discuss policy, I'd risk death, be it willed,
How much less fear the magistrate's rebuke, stilled?'
