灰暗的外貌凝结着清远古朴，
霜露般的汁水满溢着清淡的甜。
嫌弃蒸煮后表皮变得苍白，
却欣慰内里是城邑中般的乌黑。
美好的果实种在寒冷的山谷，
珍贵的品尝接近皇帝的食盒。
那个美女空有冠玉般的外表，
怎能比得上这无盐般的质朴呢？

Frost-sweetened juice o'erflows with a light, soothing taste.
The skin dislikes the pallor after being steamed,
The heart consoles the blackened core, as it has seemed.
A lovely fruit grown in a cold and lonely vale,
A precious taste, near to the royal case, so frail.
That beauty wears a crown of jade, in vain display,
How can she match this one, though plain as Wu Yan's way?
