Fate's numbers hold no excess of odd or even,
The wise man, accepting circumstance, finds peace in time.
Not by the oak or mushroom does one measure length of days,
Nor for Peng Zu or early death does one contest speed.
Though for a time this body bears an ailment,
Unfolding to ninety years, life's span knows no bound.
This nephew of sixty, his hair has whitened first,
With staff and shoes, following along, is most fitting.
