山前有一位老农，
受雇于我，从事担水砍柴的劳役。
拿到工钱就直接去买酒，
喝醉后便躺卧到山中日落。
我忘掉形迹与他交谈，
时常能从他那里获益，领悟妙理。
世上很多志士都隐居埋没，
我想谈论此事，却因自己未能辨识而感到惭愧。

Before the mountain lives an aged farmer,
He hires himself out for my water and wood.
Once paid, he goes straight to buy himself wine,
Drunk, he lies till the mountain sun sets for good.
Forgetting formalities, I converse with him,
Profound insights now and then benefit me.
Many a man of purpose lives in obscurity,
I wish to speak of this, yet blush, for I fail to see.
