穿针引线的巧艺牵动着双眸。
天上只有今夜（能相会），
人间难道就能稍作停留？
为何隔着那一道银河之水，
年年都在此时此地相互寻求。

The courtyard lies empty, curtains hint autumn's lease.
Wine cups prolong the pale moon's gleam,
Needle and thread stir a pair of eyes' dream.
In heaven, only this night holds its sway,
In the mortal world, how could one wish to stay?
Why, across the mere stretch of the Silver Stream,
Do they seek each other, year after year, it would seem?
